Scripture Printable of my least favorite verse

Otherwise known one of my least favorite verses
(there are many)

I'll be sharing on Pick Your Portion today.
Have you stopped by? It's a Bible reading plan in
which artists and writers comment on each day's reading.
I created a scripture printable for you to download to remember
God's truth in the midst of all of the ugliness and pain that goes on in this broken world.

So I have to admit, I chose this verse because I really, really don't like it.

Click here to download a 4x6 printable.

Not my favorite. Not by a long shot.
You won't see it on my coffee cup or on my walls.
You see, I have an aversion to pain,
but doesn't everyone?

Visit Pick Your Portion to read the rest!

31 Days of Scripture Art Journaling:: Day 20: Creating Photo Transfers

I'm back to journaling.
It took a while. I know.
I'll be finishing up my
31 Days of Scripture Art Journaling...
finally. I just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for patience and kindness and
emails and groups of you making together,
or making alone in the wee hours of the night.
Thank you for taking a chance
and stepping outside of what is comfortable and known
and risking just a little in order to let God's word speak to you
and encourage to you and sink deep down into your heart
so that HE can work out your salvation in you, with you
with fear and trembling.
okay, I'll stop.
please just know that I'm humbled and
a little amazed that I get to do this.

Day 20: Creating Photo Transfers in Your Journal

This is a really cool technique.
And very easy. I've seen it and I've wanted to try it for so long.
It's super simple, so I don't know what took me so long,
but here's what you'll need:

Materials:
Thick Journal Pages
Gesso
Acrylic Paint
Pretty Paper
Gel Medium
(Mine is heavy, but it doesn't matter.
It can be light, medium, or heavy)

Laser Jet Copy of the image you want to transfer
Yes, it has to be from an ink jet printer. Go to Kinkos and make
a color copy of the image you want to transfer.
Please note: The image in your journal
will be the reverse image of your copy,
so if you have text, you need to turn it around on your
computer first, then print it out, then copy it.
Sponge
Water
White Ink
It looks like this:

You can find it at the craft store on the aisle
with all of the calligraphy pens.

1. First, prep your journal page with 2-3 colors of acrylic paint.
Apply with a dry paper towel. As shown here.

2.Use patterned paper to collage your journal pages.
Use big pieces to fill up the background.

 3. This is the fun part: the transfer.
(You'll be amazed at how easy this is.)
Get your ink jet copies ready.

Cover the copy with gel medium.

Cover the journal page with gel medium.

Place the copy face down on your journal page
in your lovely pajamas.
Press down all around to get the air bubbles out and
to make sure that it all adheres to the page.

Wait 24 hours.
Take a damp sponge and wipe it over the paper
several times until the paper starts balling up
and coming off. Continue to wipe until all
of the paper residue comes off.

Voila!
Be careful not to scrub too hard or the transfer
will come off. As seen here.

 4. Add spots of color with your fingers.

5. Add words details.
Here's the secret: calligraphy ink.
I love to write/paint with this ink with it because it's
nice and thin, but super opaque & pigmented.

That's it.
Happy journaling.

InstaHalloween

Hi there friend.
Happy day after Halloween.
Here are my superheroes.
I could not talk them out of these generic costumes.
They could not be more pleased.
Joshy's first time trick-or-treating.

I don't mean to brag but I'm going to anyway.
I did 6 loads of laundry today.
six.
and I got rid of tons of plastic shiny toys
after reading this post.

 Feels so good.
I've been a little obsessed with illustration lately.
are you kidding?
so pretty.
 Making, making and making.
I'm working on a calendar.
For 2014.
I probably should have started last summer because it's taking for stinkin' ever
but I'm already knee deep and I've kind of got my heart set on it.
So, I'm trying to finish this week.

We'll see how that goes...

Painting with mama.
"Don't yook at me, Mama. Nevah, evah."

My friend Kelley has the gift of hospitality.
The gift of details and making you feel really special and loved.
Look at how cute she is.

She's makes me want to be more mindful of making people
feel loved and special and celebrated.

And she's a great cook.

And she's super crafty.
We made these bee's wax candles.
I've always wanted to make candles.

Aren't they cute?

And here's my dream farm house.

We finally had our first taste of Sonic!
It opened and we went and had a party in the van.

The boys were fully entertained watching the rollerskating waiters.

We ended up going to the pumpkin patch a few times.
First with friends

It was 500 degrees outside.

I promised them candy for one good smile.

We went with my mom.

Isn't she cute?

And they played in the pumpkins forever.

And just like that Halloween is over.
Let the crazy begin.

Press on Brave souls.
I'm linking up with Jeanette this week.
