Faith Art Friday: Week 1

Welcome to Faith Art Fridays!

We are so glad that you are here. I hope you'll join us. I hope you'll create something new and be brave and share it with us and become a part of what God is doing here. It's good.

I almost said, It's gonna be good. But it's not. It's already so good. We have already been so blessed. We know that this is not our own, of ourselves, but it belongs to Him. All of it. And it's so exciting to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, something that God is doing utterly inspite of Melissa and I.

We started the Journaling by Heart Workshop in July with a desire to be creative and be in the Word and be in community. God made us for each other. If you haven't taken a look at the workshop, you may want to start here, to get the gist of what we're doing. You are also welcome to jump in here.

So many of you joined us this summer and started creating, in groups, alone, in the midst of uprooting your life & moving houses, despite illness and hardship. You come and you share and you encourage us.

So when the 10 week workshop was over, we were not ready to stop what God had begun. So now, we have decided to continue sharing techniques, inspiration, and tutorials each Friday. The format will remain the same. Melissa and I will alternate hosting on our blogs each week. We'll have guest bloggers sharing their gifts with us, too.

Let's talk rules...
This is the most important rule:THERE ARE NO RULES.
{Except be kind. Always be kind.} Aside from the obvious, you can't do this wrong.

Life is so full of have-tos, this needs to be a get-to, an escape, something to look forward to. This shouldn't be another thing on your to-do list. There is no guilt, no condemnation here. You will miss weeks. You will fall behind. You will not want to follow the lesson that week. All of that is okay.

The lessons are simply suggestions to get you started. If you want to do your own thing, by all means do your own thing and share in the FaceBook group. If you skip a lesson, no one is counting. If you start the lesson and find you want to go your own way, you are very free to do that too. This is about you creating, growing in God's Word, and sharing it within a body of believers, in whatever way that looks like for you.

Okay, let's begin...

An old book

A journal of any kind

Acrylic craft paint

Paint brushes of various sizes

Black Ink

Step 1: Choose 2 colors that you love and cover your pages in paint.
*I used an old book as a journal this week. You can use any kind of journal that works for you!

Step 2: Add cream colored paint.

Step 3: Use Speedball black ink to write your verse:

Add some light blue.

Step 4: Add some flowers of various colors & sizes.

Step 5: Outline your flowers in black ink. Write out your verse with black ink

Step 6: Finish writing your verse in black ink.

Step 7: Share your work with us HERE.
I can't wait to see what you are creating!

  1. Can we use a composition book instead of an old book?

  2. Did. I miss the bible verse? I have read the rules and can't find the verse.

  3. This is beautiful... I would love to join but I don't do facebook... do you post your Faithbooking Challenges on your blog ??

  4. Yes is there a certain Bible verse that we use each week? Also, are the blogs mainly for information and Facebook for posting our work. Thanks, Mary
