Scripture Art Sunday: Our hearts are restless until they rest in Him. St. Augustine

Another favorite quote by Auggie. Such a needed reminder:
We were never meant to do this life on our own.
We were created to live this life in intimate relationship with our creator.
Our hearts can never be at peace until we find all that
we are and all that are looking for in
Jesus: the author and perfector of our faith.
He made our faith and he is the only one who can perfect our faith.

I love that we were never made to do this life on our own.
I love that the first step of recovery is also the first
step to knowing Jesus:

I admit that I am powerless and my life has become unmanageable.

I admit that I can't do this life on my own. I need help. Lots of it.
I need the holy spirit to come in and lead me and guide me
and take me where He wants me to go
because on my own, I'm so lost.

There is such freedom in knowing that there is no way
I can do one day of this life on my own.
I wasn't made to. Neither were you.
Whatever it is you are carrying around or trying to hold together,
I just want to encourage you: You were never made to do this alone.
God can't pick up all of our crap and turn it into something beautiful
unless we first chose it lay it down.
And that's what He wants to do. today.

Father God, we can't do this without you. We don't want to.
Thank you that we were created in your image,
in your love, to do this life with you.
Give us eyes to see what we have
been holding on to and trying to do on our own.
Give us strength to let it go and lay it at your feet.
Fill our hearts with trust and faith as you show us
what it looks like to rest in you and you alone.
Fill us up with your holy spirit.
Lead us and guide us and break us and mold us into your image.
Show us what it looks like to rest completely in you.

Press on brave sisters.

Sunday Scripture Art: Isaiah 5:13

I love this verse.
I need to be reminded of it. daily.
I run around trying to figure everything out,
when my strength lies in being quiet and
still and knowing that He is God.
trusting that he can handle everything
trusting that he will show up and provide.
trusting that he is who he says he is.

Scripture Printable of my least favorite verse

Otherwise known one of my least favorite verses
(there are many)

I'll be sharing on Pick Your Portion today.
Have you stopped by? It's a Bible reading plan in
which artists and writers comment on each day's reading.
I created a scripture printable for you to download to remember
God's truth in the midst of all of the ugliness and pain that goes on in this broken world.

So I have to admit, I chose this verse because I really, really don't like it.

Click here to download a 4x6 printable.

Not my favorite. Not by a long shot.
You won't see it on my coffee cup or on my walls.
You see, I have an aversion to pain,
but doesn't everyone?

Visit Pick Your Portion to read the rest!

Scripture Art Printable and a little bit of life

Happy Sunday friends.
Here's a little scripture art printable for
you and the people you love.

His grace is always enough.
Even when it seems like it's not, it somehow is. I don't know how.
His power is made perfect in all of our brokenness and our mess.
I don't really get it, but I know I forget it a lot so I made this mostly as a
reminder to me and I wanted to share it with you.

I'm finally decorating for Halloween with some bunting.
and more bunting.
Makes me happy.
I can't help it.

And making art making:
this verse

and these autumn leaves

and the aftermath

and paper makes me happy, too.

and spraying and putting on hardware.
not my favorite part.

We passed out cookies to strangers on the train with our friends

Kristi, Lake, and Summer.

Making new friends...

I don't know if we gave away more or ate more.

My mom and I took the kids to Knott's for the day...

We had a little medical emergency in the family, but after daddy
came home and performed surgery, everything was okay.
We're still recuperating.
You can see the gory details here.

Happy October brave souls.

Free Scripture Art Printable & a Little Twinkle Light

Hi Friends.
I'm off from teaching. For two weeks. Sigh.
My school has a break at the end of October.
Two weeks. It's the best. Don't hate.

First of all, this:
Do you know Sweet Jilly already? Such a little twinkle light.
Jeanette is hosting a fundraising for epilepsy
She does such a great job of explaining their experience with
epilepsy and how it affects, not just Jilly, but everyone in her sphere.
I'm embarrassed to say I don't know much about it,
but to hear it through a mommy's eyes is gut wrenching
and makes it way more real than simply hearing that someone has epilepsy.
Every little bit helps. It's amazing what we can do together.
Just a $5 or $10 donation. I'm skipping my Starbucks for the week.
Not because I'm great, just because it's the only $ I can find in our budget.

Second, I'm honored to be contributing a to Pick Your Portion today.
A different writer or artist contributes each
day in response to reading plan.
Enjoy!
